What is Deja Dress?
Deja Dress is an iPhone app that tracks what you wore, when, where, and who was there — so you never repeat an outfit in front of the same crowd. Track what you wear. Avoid the scare!
What does the name "Deja Dress" mean?
A Deja Dress is that awkward moment when you're about to wear the same outfit to similar events or with the same guests. Deja Guard prevents a Deja Dress.
How much does Deja Dress cost?
Deja Dress will be free to download on the App Store. An optional one-time Premium upgrade will be available for USD $19.99 (App Store display price may vary by region).
What devices does Deja Dress support?
Deja Dress runs on iPhone with iOS 17.0 or higher. It is currently iPhone-only.
Do I need an account?
No. Deja Dress requires no account or sign-in. Just download and start using it.
Where is my data stored?
All your data — events, outfits, guests, and wardrobe items — is stored on your device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers, and we collect no personal information. See our Privacy Policy for details.
What is Deja Guard?
Deja Guard warns you before you commit to an outfit you've already worn at the same event type or in front of the same attendees. Its sensitivity is configurable in the app.
What is History Lock?
History Lock prevents accidental edits to events that have already happened, so your outfit history stays accurate over time. It's a separate feature from Deja Guard — Deja Guard warns about upcoming repeats, History Lock protects your past.
Is there a tutorial?
Yes. Deja Dress includes a built-in tutorial that walks you through tracking your first event, adding outfits, and using Deja Guard. You can replay it anytime from Settings.
Do I have to photograph my whole wardrobe to get started?
No. Photos are optional for each item, and Deja Dress includes a one-tap "Add Generic Wardrobe" feature that populates sample outfits and starter items instantly — so you can try the app right away, then build out your real wardrobe over time.
Does it tell me what to wear?
Yes. Wardrobe > Insights includes Recommendations — colour pairing matches from your own wardrobe, and nudges toward pieces you haven't worn yet.
Does Deja Dress support Dark Mode?
Yes. Turn on Dark Mode in the app's Settings, under Appearance. The app uses its own setting, so it keeps your chosen appearance regardless of your iPhone's system Light or Dark Mode.
Can I create custom event types?
Yes. Deja Dress ships with built-in event types like weddings, parties, and work functions, and you can create your own with custom names, emojis, and colours.
Can I customize my wardrobe categories and colors?
Yes. You can create custom clothing categories, assign colour tags to items, and pair colours to filter outfits by palette. Build a wardrobe system that matches how you dress.
Does Deja Dress sync with my calendar?
Yes. Deja Dress syncs with your iOS Calendar — events you create in the app appear in your iPhone calendar, and you can import existing calendar events. Calendar access is optional.
Why does the app ask for access to my contacts, calendar, camera, or location?
These permissions are all optional. Contacts populate guest lists, calendar sync adds your events to the iOS calendar, the camera and photo library add pictures to wardrobe items, and location suggests venue addresses and shows the weather for your area — current conditions and forecast. None of it is ever sent to our servers.
Does Deja Dress collect analytics?
Yes, but only anonymous, non-identifiable usage data — no personal information is collected. Analytics are enabled by default and can be turned off at any time in Settings.
How do I back up my data?
Deja Dress has built-in backup: go to Settings → Backup & Restore → Backup My Data. Backups include all events, outfits, clothing items, guests, photos, and custom settings, and can be restored on the same or another device via Restore from Backup.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, go to Settings → Backup & Restore → Delete Deja Dress Data. Because nothing is stored on our servers, deleting it there (or removing the app) erases it from your device. If you have saved backup files, remove those copies too — they live in your own iCloud or Files, not with us.
Does my data go to the cloud?
Not unless you ask it to. Deja Dress stores everything on your device by default. You can create a backup file and save it wherever you like — your own iCloud or Files, never a Deja Dress server.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
